Blues guitarist and two time winner of the “Best Blues CD” at the SD Music Awards, Robin Henkel performs slide guitar and country blues with an intensity rarely seen in Southern California.
He has performed with Johnny Almond, SD Symphony, a variety of San Diego based bands, and opened shows for BB KIng, Dizzy Gillespie, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Jr Wells, Jr Walker, Hot Tuna and John McLaughlin.
Since 1973 Robin has been active playing regional venues including many festivals–Adams Roots, Gator by the Bay, ArtWalk, Doheny Blues Fest. Henkel’s music has graced many TV shows and films, including Weeds and The History Channel.
About once a month his band “Robin Henkel Band with Horns!” performs their unique brand of jazz, funk and blues at Lestat’s on Adams Ave.
